Fruits Basket

Annie has got me hooked on this new anime series called "Fruits Basket". Upon watching the first 6 episodes I immedietaly fell in love with the series and actually just recieved it over ebay today. The main character of this series, a girl named Tohru Honda is what I believe we all should strive to be in our christian lives.

The series starts with her living in a tent in the woods, her father died when she was a child and her Mom recently died in a car accident, she went to live with her grandfather but soon after he retires and comes upon hard times.... rather than be a financinal burden on him she tells him that she can find one of her friends to live with, but rather than hastle them she tries to make it on her own, by living in a tent for a few weeks and taking a part time job to pay for her own high school toution.

It is in doing that that she runs into the Soma family and long story short she ends up getting hired as their housekeeper. Now the Soma family is a cursed one in the fact that if any of them are hugged by a member of the oppste gender or come under a massive amount of stress they turn into one of the 12 animals of the Zodiac (well 13, they throw in this story about how the cat was cast out) But throughout the corse of the series this girl shows how truly selfless she is, she serves, she loves and she helps in every way she can, not expecting anything in return.

Tohru is able to find the good inside of anyone she meets, no matter how rude, angry or all around unbearable they first appear to be, and by showing them kindness she is usually able to bring them around to showing kindness as well. As christians Shouldn't we be able to do that as well?

She helps repair rifts in the family, helps members who hated each other learn to accept each other. It truly is a great, heart warming series, and it really is a good reminder of what we are suppost to be like as Christians...

Even if you aren't really into anime, I suggest giving Fruits Basket a try if at all possible... ya might even be able to take something from it! ^.^
